Abstract

This book provides a comparison of the laws and other regulatory instruments of approaching one hundred churches worldwide across ten different ecclesiastical traditions. It explains how the study of these contributes to a theological understanding of Christian identity, reveals how regardless of denominational affiliation Christians are engaged in the performance of shared norms of action, and it proposes that from the profound similarities between the laws emerge contemporary principles of law common to Christian churches - and it articulates these.
