Abstract

Walmer Road: the development of four packed-form houses around a courtyard in London. A 'back-lot' development on a brownfield site, formerly a derelict group of warehouses and ancillary buildings. An example of packed urban dwellings in which privacy, quietness and defensible space are of strategic importance. The construction uses an overt materiality to achieve these goals.
