Abstract

Following an analysis of the meaning of the terms “Christian,” “Theological,” and “Literature,” some characteristic types and forms of such literature are discussed (e. g. apologies, heresiologies, and creeds and related literature) as well as some individual authors and their works, including Origen (De principiis), Lactantius, Athanasius (Contra Arianos, De synodis), Basil of Caesarea (De spiritu sancto), Gregory of Nazianzus (Theological Orations), Cyril of Alexandria, Augustine (De Trinitate), Boethius and Pseudo‐Dionysius.
