Abstract

Observations at wavelengths between 1 micron and 2 mm of the continuum emission from a sample of Blazars (BLLacs and OVV quasars) show that most of these objects have very flat mm/submm spectra, even up to 800 GHz. These sources must all therefore be very compact. All the objects have near-infrared (1-4 micron) spectra steeper than -1.0, and several show evidence of breaks around 10 microns, suggestive of energy losses. The overall continuum shape may be explained in terms of synchrotron radiation from an isothermal relativistic jet aligned close to the line-of-sight.
