Terms & conditions
Politicsweb invites comments at the foot of each of its stories in which readers can respond freely - anonymously if they wish - to various topical issues and political debates. However, by commenting on the site you are agreeing to be bound by the following terms and conditions:
Comments submitted by readers that are defamatory or deemed, by the editors, to be racist, offensive, off-topic or obscene constitute abuse will be deleted from the database. Trolling on, or the hogging of, the comment section, is also regarded as abuse, and such comments will also be removed once brought to the attention of the editors.
Furthermore, Politicsweb's editors would like to caution potential posters on its websites that while it welcomes robust debate, it will not hesitate to make the IP addresses of the authors of such defamatory statements available to the authorities, in the event of a court order compelling them to do so.
We also reserve the right to report posters who habitually abuse the comment function - by posting inter alia racist, offensive, abusive or streams of comments - to their IT service providers. We furthermore reserve the right to charge habitual abusers for the cost of removing their comments, at a rate of R700 per hour or part thereof.
