Abstract

This chapter is related to the broader themes, because of its fundamental contribution in correlating socio-legal interactions that subsist in valuing the voices of disabled people in developing debates around agrobiodiversity and those of agroecology. This chapter is interested in demonstrating the attributes of considering disability in these global discussions that lately constitute one of the currently developing areas of public international law. Before proceeding, the chapter will use a wide range of literature on the interconnectivity of environmental rights,1 and landownership rights in combination with approaches of accessibility and inclusiveness,2 at least, in as far as the protecting of disability rights is concerned.3 That interconnectivity would promote inclusion persons with disabilities in developing policies or practices of agrobiodiversity and agroecology relating to food safety and food security.4 Therefore useful recommendations shall be highlighted that might encourage inclusiveness of disabled people whose participation appears traditionally overlooked in debates shaping matters of agrobiodiversity and agroecology. Hence the first section shall rely on Protocols of international law in rationalising the inclusive participation of person with disabilities when shaping of laws or future policies on agrobiodiversity and agroecology. The final section elucidates on ways in which inclusive participation could be attained in a much more practical sense. That section shall be comprised on the subheading on means and methods of attaining inclusive participation.
