Abstract
One of the challenging design aspects in most high voltage equipment is the electric field distribution and its magnitude within and around the equipment. To mitigate this design challenge, a number of solutions were adopted, including profiling of high voltage terminals and use of grading rings. In electrical machines and bushings, non-linear compounds were used to alleviate the effect of highly non-uniform electric field distribution.
