Abstract

The construction industry demands durable concrete with high performance. Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is progressively able to meet several requirements of the construction technology, specifically reinforced concrete, and is increasingly replacing vibrated concrete (VC) in various structural applications. SCC, which is characterised in its fresh state by high flow-ability and rheological stability, has excellent applicability for structural elements with complicated shapes and heavily – distributed reinforcement. It has rationalised the construction procedure by offering several technical and economic advantages over VC. This paper will present a novel design of SCC mixes with steel fibre for various compressive strengths to assess the characteristic of reinforced SCC , which were estimated and tested in flow and pass-ability for workability (slump flow, J-ring flow and pass-ability ) and in terms of compressive strength for hardened properties.
