Abstract

This is the second in a series of annual reports considering the economic effects connected to the development of the compound semiconductor (CS) cluster in Wales. The report considers the regional context of CS cluster development and how its contribution compares with other parts of the Welsh economy. The work forms part of the research and evaluation function surrounding the UKRI Strength in Places Fund £25m investment into CSconnected. The report provides an update on the regional economic context surrounding CS cluster development in 2021 [1]. It further considers the direct and indirect economic activity in Wales supported by CS cluster activity. The final section provides some conclusions on the expected development of CS cluster activity in Wales and key variables affecting cluster growth.
