Abstract

Dynamic simulation is a powerful tool for exploring the impact of Renewable Energy Sources (RESs) on the power system stability before being physically implemented. It allows power system planners and researchers to evaluate the system's behavior under different scenarios and operating conditions, including integrating new RESs. This paper presents the process of developing an adaptive dynamic model of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) national grid using real parameters obtained from the system operator to be applied to generic models. The purpose of this model is to provide an accurate representation of the KSA national grid that can be used for various analyses and simulations. Both static and dynamic modelling of key components of the KSA national grid were conducted using professional DIgSILENT Power Factory Software. The accuracy of the adaptive model was tested against the actual system data. The simulation results show the model's validity by resembling the actual KSA national grid.
