Abstract

This chapter discusses the main lessons to be learned from the coronavirus pandemic about patterns of and responses to a range of economic crimes, offline and online, short-term and longer-term. What have we learned, if anything, about the particular risks of financial crimes, and how they have been and could be managed, be they frauds against individuals, businesses or governments? What would it take to understand the risks and solutions better, particularly in terms of independent monitoring and making use of information available to prevent fraud?
