Abstract

The chapter examines the neglected Constantinian homily, The Oration to the Saints, delivered by the emperor in Nicomedia prior to the Council of Nicaea. The paper argues that the homily displays clear signs of engaging with the form of the rhetorical diatribe in its characterisation of historic and contemporary religious and political events.
