Abstract
This paper outlines the main take home messages after 40 + years of stream succession studies in Glacier Bay (Alaska, USA). Proposed models will be discussed including the main driving variables from filters at different ages of streams – 50, 100, 150 and 200 years. The future stream development will be outlined including the physical habitat conseptual framewok model and role of climate change on new systems emerging. The challenges of the studies over 40 years will be discussed. Potential avenues for future research priorities are suggested.
