Abstract
This chapter examines fan readings of multiversal constructions pertaining to trans-spatial movements within Pokémon video games. Challenging current intellectual orthodoxies which approach commercial intellectual properties that span multiple media and demonstrate vast storyworlds via discourses of transmediality and convergence culture, the chapter instead considers the meanings and significance of multiversal constructions within these. By attempting this, the generic and commercial contours of what the chapter names the Poké-verse are illustrated, and arguments concerning the need to retain a focus upon fan interpretation, pleasure, and affect are forwarded. The chapter concludes that studying fan negotiations of multiversal constructions in a franchise like Pokémon can open up new directions within fan studies such as better understanding the relationship between objects of fandom and fan philosophizing.
