Abstract
ABSTRACTPhotoelectron spectra can be complicated by the presence of final state effects, leading to the misinterpretation of spectra especially by analysts new to the field. In this insight note, we present a précis on the topic of multiplet splitting, a phenomenon that can produce—especially when coupled with the presence of shake‐satellites—complex spectra that may be readily misinterpreted by those new to the field of X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
