Abstract
This paper presents a comparative analysis of the reliability and cost of different transmission and collection system topologies in offshore wind farms, using Dogger Bank Creyeke Beck A as a case study. The analysis covered point-to-point (PTP) and multi-terminal HVDC (MTDC) for transmission alongside AC radial and Series-Parallel (SP) DC topologies for offshore collection systems, evaluating their capital costs, power losses, and reliability. Reliability analysis was performed using the Capacity Outage Probability Table technique. Results have shown that MTDC with Series-parallel DC collection has higher energy availability. However, a trade-off exists between the power loss and cost of MTDC and PTP transmission. Conversely, both the cost and losses for the SP collection topology are lower than the AC radial topology.
