Abstract
We develop an effective numerical model for viscoelastic liquid crystal elastomers where contributions due to the polymeric network and the liquid crystal mesogens are clearly defined and represented computationally. Finite element simulations of deformation localisation characteristic to these materials illustrate the efficiency of our approach.
