Abstract

Mass manufacturing which created millions of jobs in the twentieth century has unfortunately caused damage to the environment. The emergence of remanufacturing is seen as a rescuer which has allowed the life cycle of products to be extended by remaking the failed products so that they become as good as new and continue to be reused until they cannot be repaired or remanufactured. In this context, vehicle remanufacturing has become an important field, and as a result the remanufacturing of different vehicle parts is being widely studied and applied. Among the many remanufacturing technologies, the emerging Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology is becoming very popular and is being adopted by more and more enterprises and integrated into the remanufacturing layout. This study discusses the situation of vehicle remanufacturing globally and while it finds that the market size of vehicle part remanufacturing in many countries is very large, in Europe the scale exceeds 20% of the entire industry. After comparing different vehicle parts, the necessity of suspension system remanufacturing became evident and therefore in this paper a remanufacturing process layout based on Additive Manufacturing for a vehicle suspension is proposed. As an alternative to AM the Arc Welding Cladding method suitable for low-carbon steel materials is selected for the suspension system remanufacturing. Finally, the paper also deals with remanufacturing logistics flow before and after the remanufacturing work is completed.
