Abstract

The authors investigate the effects of internal motions within a GMC by modelling a region of a GMC (henceforth a subcloud) as being made up to 20 randomly moving elements (henceforth sub-subclouds). Inelastic collisions between these sub-subclouds result in a high density core at the position where a few of the sub-subclouds collided. Within this core, at first a hierarchical quadruple system and then, due to a merger, a hierarchical triple system is formed.
