Abstract
This paper analyses the requirements for data standardization for BIM based design and construction for waterway infrastructure. The methodology is based on the comparison between the traditional and BIM based projects, focusing on data transfer and work flow, application issues and key points that BIM can help. The BIM requirements are concluded accordingly regarding data format, technology utilization, classification and son on. Some suggestions and recommendations for international open BIM IFC standards development in waterway infrastructure are given in the end.
