Abstract
The term transmedia refers to the creation of rich and complex media storyworlds across multiple platforms. This approach has flourished within online and mixed media contexts where webs of content can be explored by (and coproduced with) curious audience members and fans. Emerging from media, culture, and communications contexts in the early years of the twenty‐first century, the term is increasingly being used to describe a broader suite of practices.
