Abstract

Greenhouse gas emissions are causing significant changes in both the power and transportation systems. Electric vehicles (EVs) are a promising way to reduce CO 2 emissions. However, given the development of EVs in Malaysia is still in its infancy, it is difficult to get historical data about the daily driving distance of these vehicles. The impact of high EV uptakes was demonstrated by generating probabilistic charging profiles for EVs. The driving data is gathered under real traffic conditions of vehicles commuting from home to work using Google Maps. The first step involved in this research is to find the relevant parameters for describing driving patterns based on working background. Next, the EVs' charging load was generated and integrated into Malaysia's low voltage distribution networks for the year 2030. The results present that high EV uptakes considerably increase power losses in the network.
