Abstract

The mass spectral fragmentation patterns of benziiic and mandelic acid hydrazides derivatives are established and discussed in terms of their molecular structures. Mechanisms leading to the important fragment ions are suggested and identified. The effect of p-substitution on their spectroscopic properties was also investigated. The fragment ions obtained by Mclafferty rearrangement processes gave good regression for segma-Hammett constants.
