Abstract
Power electronic converters, which allow for non-synchronous connections and efficient DC power transmission, are crucial for integrating renewable energy sources and enabling high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technologies. As the world moves toward ambitious decarbonization targets, there's a significantly growing need for renewable energy and long-distance power transmission, driving the widespread adoption of power electronic converters. This chapter explores how power electronic technology supports the transition to cleaner electricity, focusing on its role in wind energy, HVDC, and microgrid applications.
