Abstract
In recent years, converter-based sources like wind generation, PVs, battery-based storage, and HVDCs increasingly penetrate the power system (such as distribution and transmission networks) under worldwide decarbonization policies. These converters with the characteristics of control flexibility and fast response will also be expected by system operators to effectively provide more grid services than traditional generators. While, one main obstacle in the development of grid-connected converters is widely raised and reported from the academic researches and industries, which is the weak-grid instability. The cause of this instability issue is classified as the control interaction between a converter and network. Currently, there is no worldwide agreed solution to this issue. This section offers a comprehensive overview of grid-connected converter stability.
