Abstract
In this chapter we review the role of sulfur mineral weathering in the global carbon cycle and how the weathering of continental sulfur minerals is traced in rivers. We then explore the continental sulfur budget, where sulfur may precipitate on land rather than being released to the ocean. The chapter concludes with suggestions for future research directions that may further elucidate the role of continental sulfur in the global sulfur and carbon cycles.
