Abstract
Italy has often been described as a ‘laboratory of populism’, however, its Eurosceptic turn is more recent. This country report, prepared as part of the EUPopLink COST Action, traces the relationship between populism and Euroscepticism in the Italian party system. It introduces the main populist and Eurosceptic actors in Italy, and considers the nexus between populism and Euroscepticism in the Italian context. It also considers mainstream responses to the rise of populist euroscepticism.
