Abstract
n this chapter, the authors describe the advances in diffusion-weighted imaging in Huntington's disease research. Given the well-known genetic basis of this neurogenerative disorder, incipient brain damage in very early disease stages can be well characterized, and optimal prognostic biomarkers can be designed. Although diffusion imaging remains primarily a research tool in this disorder, classic and novel metrics using this modality have shown promising value for disease-monitoring in clinical trials and have provided a better understanding of its motor and especially nonmotor symptoms.
