Abstract

There is little information about the direct effects of nicotine on the gastrointestinal tract in humans. Most observations derive from studies of smoking. The effect of smoking on body weight is perhaps the best recognized observation, and it ac­counts for up to a 10% difference between smokers and nonsmokers.
