Abstract

The Wales Safeguarding Repository (WSR) is a digital repository of safeguarding reviews from Wales. Safeguarding reviews in Wales historically fell under separate processes depending on the type of victim or perpetrator, for example, Child Practice Reviews (CPRs), Adult Practice Reviews (APRs), Domestic Homicide Reviews (DHRs), and Mental Health Homicide Reviews (MHHRs). However, these reviews often held common themes and sometimes multiple reviews were undertaken for a single event (for example, if a domestic abuse incident also involved a child). In response to this, the Single Unified Safeguarding Review (SUSR) was introduced in Wales, to encompass all categories of safeguarding review. The WSR therefore houses a combination of legacy reviews and new SUSRs. Professionals may access the WSR for the purposes of informing ongoing reviews, improving practice, and research and monitoring. Building on previous research, this is a report of a service and impact audit of professionals’ experience of using the WSR for such purposes. The report ends with some suggestions for future improvements to the platform.
