Abstract
A 3D periodic crosslinked actin filament network model is developed to simulate the mechanical properties of cell wall cytoskeleton using the commercial ABAQUS FEM software and periodic boundary conditions. The effects of actin filament volume fraction and crosslinking density on the in-plane shear modulus and the relation between the in-plane shear stress and shear strain are investigated and the dominant deformation mechanisms are revealed. The obtained results are of important applications in bioscience and biomedical applications.
