Abstract
The application of nanofluids in aerospace and automotive systems has attracted sustained interest as modern transport technologies experience increasing thermal loads, compact system architectures, and rising power densities. Advances in propulsion systems, power electronics, and energy storage have intensified the demands placed on thermal management solutions, exposing the limitations of conventional working fluids. Within this context, nanofluids have emerged as a promising means of enhancing heat transfer performance through modified thermophysical properties that are well-suited to high-demand transport environments. This chapter presents an overview of nanofluid applications in transport thermal management, with a focus on aerospace and automotive systems. Fundamental thermophysical characteristics relevant to heat-transfer performance are outlined, followed by a review of reported applications in key subsystems such as heat exchangers, avionics and electronics cooling, battery thermal-management systems, radiators, and propulsion-related cooling components. The chapter summarizes reported performance trends and practical considerations associated with nanofluid use under representative operating conditions, providing a consolidated account of existing work in this area.
