Abstract
The conventional plug-in proportional- integral repetitive control (PI-RC) structure inherently suffers from a response-speed mismatch between the PI and RC loops, causing inter-cycle error accumulation and output distortion during dynamic conditions. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes a decoupled control strategy of plug-in PI-RC that enhances dynamic performance. The core idea is to separate the RC loop's steady-state behavior from its transient response. During dynamic periods, the transient RC error is substituted with the extracted steady-state tracking error, thereby preventing transient disturbances from being stored in the RC memory. This decoupling is realized by extending the RC memory length from N to 2N points and introducing counters L and M to precisely control the substitution window. The design constraints of L and M are analytically linked to the PI dynamic response, forming a principled guideline for guaranteeing convergence. Additionally, frequency deviation effects are further incorporated. The stability, robustness against weak grid environments, grid voltage disturbances and measurement noise, and parameter-design guidelines of the proposed strategy are analyzed. Experimental results obtained from a three-phase converter prototype verify that the enhanced PI-RC reduces the settling time from approximately 85 ms to 4 ms for faster transient response, preserves the high steady-state accuracy of conventional RC, and achieves effective suppression of coupling-induced distortion; specifically, it cuts the transient THD in the second fundamental cycle after power steps from 12.33% to 2.72% under grid frequency deviations, demonstrating both practicality and performance advantages.
