Abstract
Single-atom catalysis has triggered an enormous research boom. However, inconsistent terminology is widely encountered in the literature, particularly for single-atom versus single-site catalysts. By clarifying the origins of these catalysts, and distinguishing their criteria and structural boundaries, this Comment proposes standardized characterization benchmarks and writing norms to unify terminology.
