Abstract
This chapter provides a brief review of previous chapters and then reports from the fuels workshop at the GIN Conference. Then, based on the discussion in some of the previous chapters it attempts to analyse the likely introduction scenario for fuel cell vehicles, emphasising the marginal nature these are likely to play in an enlarged world vehicle parc. It also explores some other automotive futures and tries to assess where the next phase of innovation is most likely to come from by comparison with previous phases of industrial change. It concludes that the Far East is probably best placed to take this next step, based on a brief historical analysis.
