Abstract
Magnetisation waveforms in many electromagnetic applications exhibit flux density waveforms which are far removed from the sinusoidal ideal. A test system is described which enables complex flux density waveforms to be controlled. The precautions and additional sources of error for characterisation under complex magnetisation conditions are outlined. Example results including the effect of introducing high order harmonics and a simulation of PWM exciting are presented along with examples of the use of a modified superposition of loss technique
