Abstract

This latest decision on Jediism has been the Charity Commission’s first opportunity to show how the Supreme Court decision in Hodkin has affected its understanding of the definition of religion. Unfortunately, in deciding not to give the Jedis charity status, it has made three missteps that are likely to lead to a more conservative and confused approach to the future legal definition of religion.
