Abstract
Employing correlation analysis, this investigation applied two non-destructive coupling sensors measuring the corona discharge characteristics in air compressed to 6 Bar. The study aimed to understand how harmonic contents, especially those resulting from commutation and overlap angles, affect harmonic voltage distortions. To achieve precise diagnostics of the ripple effect in discharge inception, this work utilized both an ultra-high frequency antenna and a current transformer. Through simultaneous measurement in real-time and data cluster stacking, the results indicated that the harmonic voltages on the DC side arise from its frequency components. The correlation plots demonstrated diverse responses of discharge distribution when adjusting the commutation control settings. It is proposed that correlation results might offer insights into quantifying the ripple voltage influence on the corona discharge distribution pattern, and also assess the correlation between the commutation overlap control strategies and the behavior of discharge pulses.
