Abstract
Power is central to management and organisational life. Courpasson (2017) defines power as a practice or exercise, manifested as activities between hierarchical positioning (Courpasson, 2017). Mainstream management studies typically view power from a managerial perspective, treating it as a tool for coordination and problem-solving. However, Critical Management Studies (CMS) offers a broader, more nuanced understanding of power, emphasising its inherent presence in organisational structures and ideologies. Influenced by concepts like Foucault's power/knowledge and discourse, CMS critiques mainstream views, highlighting power dynamics that marginalise certain groups. Despite CMS's focus on power, there remains a need for introspection within the field to assess its own impact and inclusivity.
