Abstract

This chapter takes the form of an ‘interview-style’ Roundtable reflecting on the past, present, and future of the translation industry, built around a range of questions drawn from each Part of the Handbook. The discussions cover topics including the current state of the translation industry, the opportunities, challenges, and impacts related to technological developments in the industry, issues of ethics and sustainability, ramifications on translator training and the discipline of Translation Studies, and industry–academia collaboration. The reflections and forward-looking perspectives in the chapter are provided by six authors from diverse backgrounds, spanning a range of industry contexts and combining to offer a formidable body of expertise.
