Abstract
St Kilda is one of the most famous landscapes in Britain; spectacular in its scenery, emotive in its life history. It was inscribed as a World Heritage Site for its natural character in 1986 and after a sustained campaign it became one of the few locations in the world to be recognised as a World Heritage Site for both its natural and cultural character in 2005
