Abstract

A recent study demonstrated that Factor IX (FIX) directly binds the adenoviral (Ad) fibre knob domain |[ldquo]|bridging|[rdquo]| viral uptake into hepatocytes via heparan sulphate proteoglycans (HSPG) and/or low-density lipoprotein receptor related protein (LRP)1. In vivo, this phenomenon compensates for introduced capsid mutations abrogating CAR binding, accounting for the identical liver transduction levels of Ad5 vectors independent of CAR-binding status.
