Abstract

In February 2006, the second meeting of ICTM Ireland was hosted in Limerick. As the keynote speaker, Anthony Seeger addressed the central theme of the meeting: ‘A National Ethnomusicology’. Following a productive discussion, the meeting featured a number of short presentations by academics teaching ethnomusicology in Ireland. John M. O’Connell (UL) closed the session with a short comparison between Ireland and Tajikistan, reinforcing the need for a cross-cultural dimension in the national ethnomusicologies of small nation states.
