Abstract
The uniform and well-dispersed copper nanowires (Cu NWs) with an average diameter of 70 nm and length up to 60 μm were synthesized via a facile solution-phase approach using oleylamine (OLA) as the capping agent. Polyvinypyrrolidone (PVP) was added to prevent the Cu NWs from aggregating in the synthetic process. Electron microscope and UV–visible spectroscopy were used to analyze the growth mechanism of 1-D Cu nanostructures. Our results indicate that the growth of the nanowire is along the [110] direction and the obtained Cu NWs were derived from multiply-twinned seeds. Since OLA could effectively stabilize the newly formed [100] facets rather than the [111] facets, finally leading to the 1-D elongation of Cu NWs.
