Abstract

The object of this paper is to show how electrophysiological and ultrastructural studies of identified neurones can be combined to investigate the organisation of the neural pathways that underlie local reflexes of the legs in the locust. We will discuss our results in the light of what is known of vertebrate reflexes and consider whether there are common features to the organization of reflex pathways in these two different nervous systems.
