Abstract

Seafarers are involved every day in accidents that result in injury and, all too often, death. This article describes the content of a paper given to the International Advisory Group on Maritime Statistics by members of the Maritime Department at the University of Wales, in which it is suggested that the figures published on the numbers of incidents show only one-tenth of the actual accident problems worldwide.
