Abstract

RESUMEN: La poesía de Nicanor Parra experimentó diferentes transformaciones: poema, antipoema, artefacto, “ecopoema”. Este último apareció a principio de los años ochenta fruto de una toma de conciencia a favor de la causa ecologista. Coincide cronológicamente con el desarrollo de un nueva corriente crítica, la ecocrítica, orientada a analizar las relaciones entre literatura y medio ambiente. Desde esta óptica cabe plantearse si el “eco” representa únicamente la marca de un discurso ideológico o determina también una forma literaria específica. En los discursos de sobremesa, las intervenciones públicas que Nicanor Parra acometió desde la década de los noventa, el compromiso ecologista se manifiesta como un tema recurrente pero también como un principio constructivo del texto. ABSTRACT: The poetry of Nicanor Parra experienced several transformations: poem, antipoem, artefact, “ecopoem”. The latter appeared at the beginning of the 1980s, after Parra's personal engagement with environmentalism. By then, ecocriticism was being developed as a new literary critical approach that focuses on the relationship between literature and the environment. From this perspective, Parra's ecopoetry begs the question whether the prefix “eco-” is merely an ideological hallmark or constitutes a particular literary form. This article argues that in After-Dinner Declarations, the public speeches delivered by Nicanor Parra since the 1990s, the poet's environmental commitment manifests itself not only as a thematic concern but also as a constructive principle of the poetic text.
