Abstract
K:KART is essentially a cartographic program designed to provide two- or three- dimensional representations of surfaces. Its peculiar advantage is that it is developed for use with a minicomputer system, permitting closer user-machine interaction.K:KART computes a surface which passes through a set of coordinates in three- dimensional space. In the ore geological application these coordinates are provided as in-data borehole information. The results are presented in the form of computer-drawn paleotopographic or isopach maps or figures.Data-processing and representation by K:KART are of particular interest for stratiform deposits, where the ore is paleohydrologically localized, and in mine planning, where three-dimensional information on ore thicknesses and structural factors may be of importance. The program may also be modified to handle ore reserve calculations.
