Abstract

An audit of 30 community palliative care patients was carried out to evaluate whether patients at home and their relatives know who to call in an emergency. A simple intervention, in the form of explanation and an emergency telephone list, made a significant difference.Three months later, 83.3 per cent of patients knew who to call in different situations relating to their care.
