Abstract
WC92–Co8 coating produced by electrospark deposition effectively improves the surface performance of the substrate. The behavior of the interface between the WC92–Co8 coating and the substrate is studied in this paper. The high-melting-point WC92–Co8 was deposited onto the surface of Ti alloy, and the coating was usually more than 50 μm thick. The surface of the coating is mainly composed of TiC and W2C besides a small amount of W, and its micro hardness reaches HV1129. The coating dramatically improves the performance of the substrate.
